What is an Official Community Plan?
In British Columbia, an OCP is a long-range plan that sets out policies for how a community will accommodate population growth. By 2045, an additional 20,000 people are expected to move to our community. Our new OCP will reflect our community vision for how our neighbourhoods and transportation networks can be enriched and improved to best support our growing population. This Plan will cover the following topics:

  • Housing and neighbourhood development
  • Transportation and infrastructure
  • Recreation, parks and trails
  • Climate and environmental stewardship
  • Economic development

What is a Transportation Plan?
The Transportation Plan guides how our community’s transportation system, such as roads, public transit, and bike and walking paths, will grow and develop in line with the OCP. The Transportation Plan will outline how we move and connect to all the places we go safely and efficiently, while making life better for everyone in our community.

  • About the survey

The City is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) and Transportation Plan (TP), and we would like to hear from you again!   Phase one and two of engagement have been completed - thank you to everyone who participated. You can find a summary of what was learned from the engagement process in phase one here and in phase two here.

During this third phase of engagement, you will be looking more closely at how Vernon’s two urban centres – Downtown and Village Green – and its three Village Centres – Alexis Park, Okanagan Landing and Jubilee Hill – could look in the future. The survey is an opportunity for the community to provide feedback on the draft vision for these five areas. There will also be opportunity to review the Transportation Plan projects that are proposed and provide feedback on those.

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

At the end of the survey, you will have the opportunity to be entered into the draw for a $150 DVA (Downtown Vernon Association) Dollars Gift Card. For a list of the businesses that accept DVA Dollars, please visit https://www.downtownvernon.com/downtown-dollars/

While all background information needed to participate fully in the survey is included throughout the survey, we encourage you to have a look at additional maps and information here and scroll to Phase 3 Survey - Additional Resources.
