  • What steps are taken to address vernons first impressions tourism sees when coming from Kelowna? We've just relocated and heard numerous people comment on the Towns rough appearance from it's first impression. Run down and homeless are what I've been told which saddens me knowing this city has more to offer but I do feel embarrassed what people have to drive past when visiting.

Thank for your comment. We recognize that highway corridors serve as gateways in to the City and that the appearance is important. Highways are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transportation and Transit. While the City cannot make changes on its own, staff work in partnership with the Province to identify, suggest, and support improvements that support shared goals. City staff will share your comment with the Ministry, just note that their employees are returning to work after the BCGEU strike so our communications may be delayed.
