In 2018 the Mobile Vending Policy was adopted by the City of Vernon. Mobile vendors require a business licence to operate, written approval from the Fire Department, insurance, and photos provided with business licence application.
If vendors are offering a menu containing 50% local food, a reduction in fees is provided. If operating on private property, written permission from the property owner shall be provided to the City.
Operation on one of the pre-approved locations in the City is on a first-come-first-serve basis and the operators shall self-schedule.
Last year, the City of Vernon announced it was seeking mobile vendors for locations within parks. To continue to add vibrancy to parks and public spaces and to attract more users to different areas the City recognized the permitting process required an update. The City is requesting input and feedback to help complete the Mobile Vending Policy and updates to the permitting process in early 2019.
