Introduction

The City of Vernon invites all local residents and businesses to have your say in the 2022 municipal budget process, as we plan for the next five-year budget cycle from 2022 to 2026. Your input will help our Mayor and Council understand the public's priorities on various services provided by the City, and will better inform Council's future financial decisions.

Background

Near the end of each year, Council reviews, discusses and debates the annual operating and capital budget proposed by Administration for the next calendar year. Prior to the budget deliberation meetings, Administration reviews each area of operation and prepares recommendations for potential adjustments. Council then reviews the recommendations, and the feedback provided by members of the public, to make informed decisions.


The annual operating and capital budget is part of the City's five-year financial plan to maintain and improve municipal services and support Council's Strategic Plan.


As part of the public consultation process, a survey is available below that discusses various areas of service and whether these services are currently meeting public expectation.


If you are looking for additional information about the City’s operations, links are provided at the end of each question to that area’s respective portion(s) of the City’s 2021 Budget, called the 2021 - 2025 Financial Plan.


In addition to this survey, public comments are welcome during the budget deliberation meetings. More details will be provided about those opportunities to participate as we get closer to that part of the annual budget process.

How to have your say

Step 1: Review the details of the 2021-2025 Financial Plan and learn about the City's various areas of service.

Step 2: Complete the short survey below to tell us what you think about the City's areas of service, whether or not they are meeting expectation, and how they may be improved.

Step 3: Watch for additional information to be released later this year about public participation opportunities during Council's budget deliberation meetings.
