Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Vernon Budget! The results have been presented to Council for consideration. Based on the input that we received from Vernon residents that demonstrated that citizens valued improved City services, Council has decided to allow a small tax increase for operational expenses - a maximum of 1.9 per cent.

    By law, municipal governments must have a balanced budget. This means that it would be against the law to spend more than they have available. And in order to borrow a substantial amount of money, a municipality must ask its citizens via a referendum.
