Read the summary of what we learned from the community <a href="https://www.engagevernon.ca/41111/widgets/171140/documents/137204" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>. </p><p>The team will consider community feedback along with technical studies to create different options for how we will grow as a city. Phase 2 of community engagement will launch on October 28 and end on November 14. This engagement will include a survey and an open house on November 7 at the public library from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Please mark your calendars and save the date!</p><p><strong>What is an Official Community Plan? </strong><br>In British Columbia, an OCP is a long-range plan that sets out policies for how a community will accommodate population growth. By 2045, an additional 20,000 people are expected to move to our community. Our new OCP will reflect our community vision for how our neighbourhoods and transportation networks can be enriched and improved to best support our growing population. <h1>Introduction</h1><p>Have your say about the 2025 budget. Your input will help Mayor and Council understand the public&#39;s priorities on various services provided by the City, and will better inform Council&#39;s future financial decisions.</p><h2>Background</h2><p>Near the end of each year, Council reviews, discusses and debates the annual operating and capital budget proposed by Administration for the next calendar year. Prior to the budget deliberation meetings, Administration reviews each area of operation and prepares recommendations for potential adjustments. 2025 Budget Survey 

<p>Recreation Services has been offering a wide and varied line up of camps for many years for our community. Over the last few years (post-pandemic) we have noticed that the needs of the community are changing and we feel that it may be time for a &lsquo;refresh&rsquo;. As a result, we are reaching out to you to learn how to best offer camps and programs in the summer months.</p><p>Please take a few moments to complete our survey as we try to gain information on how to best offer services. Do we need more flexibility? Shorter or longer camps? Let us know what would work best for your family.</p>

Recreation - Summer Camps

<p>In collaboration with the <a href="https://nexusbc.ca/news-and-events/vernon-seniors-action-network">Vernon Seniors Action Network</a>, the City of Vernon is undertaking several initiatives to help make our community more inclusive and age and dementia friendly.</p><p>An <em>age-friendly community</em> is a place where policies, services and structures related to both physical and social environments are designed to help seniors be as safe, healthy and engaged as possible (for more information, check out the World Health Organization <a href="https://extranet.who.int/agefriendlyworld/who-age-friendly-cities-guide/">Age Friendly Cities Guide</a>).</p><p>A <em>dementia-friendly community</em> is a place where people living with dementia and their caregivers are understood, respected, supported and included without fear or stigma (for more information, check out this World Health Organization <a href="https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240031531">Dementia Inclusive Society Toolkit</a>).</p><p>With support from <a href="http://bchealthycommunities.ca/programs/age-friendly-communities/">BC Healthy Communities</a> and in consultation with community partners, the City is conducting an assessment and creating its first Age and Dementia Friendly Community Plan. This Plan will highlight the specific needs and priorities of our community and will help ensure that they are considered and integrated into future City plans, policies and programs. </p><p>A public Open House will be held on <strong>Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 10:00 &ndash; 12:00 pm</strong>, at the Schubert Centre (3505 30th Avenue). All ages are welcome and light refreshments will be provided. Your feedback is important and we hope to see you there!</p>
